This was a challenging one. I was hired by Wail City Artist Brixton Pereira’s Dad @i_am_nuno to build this special Kick. It is 16x20 100 year old Knotty Pine/Cherry Hybrid kick. The Pine was repurposed from a Old Whaling City building receiving a much needed upgrade. This drum completes Brixton‘s kit. He is now rocking a four piece Wail City Stave kit, and progressing super fast.

Ambrosia Maple is a general term attached to a variety of Acer (true maple) species whose boards included colorful bug “trails” — caused by a fungus carried by the Ambrosia Beetle which penetrates the tree sap as the beetle eats into the tree, and it spreads both through the worm hole and up and down in the tree

Introducing a limited line from Wail City! Here are six snares made out of 3 different types of maple (2 hard maple 2 red Maple a 2 ambrosia maple). All six are 5.5x14” and fitted with 2.3 triple flange hoops, double ended tube lugs and a DW mag throw off. They’re up for grabs from $499 to $599, and great opportunity to give the gift of Wail City to your favorite drummer this holiday season.

I decided to pay tribute to some badass women by naming this line of drums “Maple Syndrome” (inspired by an awesome podcast called Mable Syndrome celebrating punk rock women) and naming each snare after legendary female drummers.
